Photographs and

Five-a-Day

I've heard it said that five photos on facebook are all you need to see what something is like. Are we, I wonder, becoming desensitized to the impact of photographs? I hope not.

Here are some images that do carry an impact, and there are no more that five in each group. I'll be putting up a different selection soon so come back another day and have another look.

On my doorstep

A set of local views, used to decorate the village web site.

Passing fancies

Some subjects that came, unexpectedly, in front of my lens this year.

Exhibition projects

The theme of this series is windows: what you see through them, around them and reflected from them.

Archive recovery

My archives date back to the early 1950s. Sometimes a neglected shot acquires a new relevance and I get a great deal of satisfaction in reviving images and presenting them afresh in digital form.

Photographic Line Design

In the 1980s I devised a darkroom technique of controlling the tonal elements of a photograph and reducing them to outlines of black or white tracery. I don't make new Line Designs any more but digital reproductions of the originals make powerful small images.

The images are all available as prints or for re-use, please ask for more details, prices and permission.
